The Crime-Branch Crime Investigation Department (CB-CID) has released the photographs of suspected 10 NEET impersonators who took up the exam for Tamil Nadu candidates.

The alarming NEET scam was discovered in the month of September 2019 after a Theni Medical College candidate named KV Udit Surya was caught after finding the mismatch of his appearance in person and his photo in the NEET card.

KV Udit Surya's doctor father Venkatesan was also involved in the scam. Later both of them were arrested from their hideout in Tirupati. As per News Minute report, the police registered an FIR under Sections 120(B) (Criminal conspiracy), 419 (Cheating by personation) and 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code.

The Theni Police also stated that after questioning the candidate, sections 468 (Forgery) and 471 (Using a forged document) may be added to the FIR. However, the Madras High Court granted conditional bail to Surya in addition to two students in October.

Reports say that a total of 14 were arrested after the Theni scam including an agent in Kerala. It is said that people involved in the scam had paid over Rs 20 lakh (per candidate) to get imposters. 

Following up with more such NEET scams, the CB-CID officers have released the photographs of suspected 10 North Indian NEET frauds including two young girls who were suspected as imposters for Tamil Nadu candidates.

A request has been made to the public to pass the information if the people in the above photographs are found anywhere.
