PEOPLE SHOCKED OVER ONGC PIPE LEAK IN KADHIRAMANGALAM

People were shocked to see leakage in the pipelines buried by ONGC in Tanjore's Kadhiramangalam, reports Puthiya Thalaimurai. A similar incident happened last year and people protested against it.

Crude oil is taken from Kadhiramangalam located near Kumbakonam to Mayiladuthurai using pipes. Hence, ONGC has buried pipelines under earth and is taking crude oil through it.

However, in Vellaipillaiyaar Kovil in Kadhiramangalam, a leak was spotted in the pipes and the people alerted the officials.

ONGC authorities then repaired the leak. The leak is said to have happened due to soil erosion causing hole in the pipeline, the reports further say.
