People evicted from Greams Road

Almost 603 families were reportedly evicted from Thideer nagar slums on Greams road in Chennai. The eviction and resettlement drive reportedly took place in a phased manner on Wednesday amid tight police security. Reports say, under the Cooum River eco-restoration project by the Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust (CRRT), the people settled in the slum will be resettled in Perumbakkam Slum Housing Board tenements.
