Onions to be sold at Rs. 30 to Rs. 40 in TN Farm-Green Consumer Shops

The Press notification released by the Minister for the Cooperative departments Sellur K Raju and Food Minister Kamaraj reads:

Due to incessant rains in the areas where onion is grown, the quantity of onion arriving here was lesser leading to a price increase for onions.

An order was issued by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to control this rise in onion prices in the open market and sell at lower prices, a review was conducted on 4th and 6th November regarding selling onion at lower prices through the Departments of Cooperatives and Food.

Subsequently, high-quality onion was procured by the state government through the state government departments of cooperatives and food and consumers can avail  the same through the farm-green consumer shops at a price much lower than the open market at Rs. 30 to Rs. 40 per kg from today (9th November). With this initiative, the price of onion will be brought under control.
