NARROW ESCAPE: TN TRAINS COME FACE TO FACE ON THE SAME TRACK IN MADURAI

In Thirumangalam, near Madurai, two trains came face to face, almost running into eachother, in the same track causing chaos in the area.

Trains travel daily between Madurai to Senkottai and Senkottai to Madurai. A train going from Madurai to Senkottai was delayed by an hour and reached Thirumangalam. It halted for only one minute before moving.

At the same time, a passenger train from Senkottai to Madurai was travelling on the same track. Since it is a one-way track, the first train should have been halted longer at Thirumangalam, but since the train was signalled to leave, both the trains could have ran into each other, reports Puthiya Thalaimurai.

Information was passed on to the train captains and the trains were halted in mid-way, which saved the passengers and the train from the horrific accident that could have happened.

Then, the train going towards Senkottai was reversed to Thirumangalam and halted till the route was cleared. Angry passengers fought with the officers due to the delay in train.
