Madras HC makes a move on disqualified MLAs

The Madras High Court started hearing the petitions submitted by 18 MLAs who were disqualified after they went against the Chief Minister, breaking the anti- defection law. The arguments in favour of the disqualified MLAs were made by Abhishek Singhvi, who insisted that the Assembly Speaker’s decision to disqualify the MLAs was based on irrelevant considerations and that the MLAs had received information about their disqualification only after the press was informed and the news was posted on the internet.
