In an interview with a Tamil news channel, director Pa Ranjith said that the convicts in Udumalai Shankar case of dishonor killing deserve the capital punishment. He said, “I am generally against death sentence. But in this case, justice has been served. I have been meeting Kausalya often and I know how she feels.” Kausalya’s husband Shankar who is a Dalit was murdered by the former's father. Her father, along with five other relatives have been sentenced to death on Tuesday for their crime of murdering Shankar.
