580 NEW POSITIVE CASES AND 2 DEATHS IN TAMIL NADU TODAY; ADDITIONAL COVID-19 DETAILS LISTED

Tamil Nadu on Thursday, 7 May, reported 580 new cases of COVID-19 taking the total number of cases in the state 5409.

Press Note from the Health Ministry said a large number of today’s cases are linked to Koyambed Market.

Two persons succumbed to the virus on the date taking the death toll of the state to 37.

The following is the COVID-19 statistics of Tamil Nadu as of 7 May:

Total number of active cases on date - 3822

Total number of Male/Female/Transgender tested positive today – 410/170/0

Total number of Male/Female/Transgender tested positive till date – 3730/1677/2

Total number of functioning COVID-19 testing facilities – 52 (36 government and 16 private)

Total number of samples tested till date – 2,02,436

Total number of samples tested today – 14,195

Total number of persons tested till date – 1,92,574

Total number of persons tested today – 14,102

Total number of suspected individuals in isolation ward admission – 3935

Total number of patients discharged following treatment till date– 1547

Total number of patients discharged following treatment today – 31
