BLAST AT NLC: AT LEAST 7 INJURED IN A BOILER BLAST AT NEYVELI LIGNITE CORPORATION!

At least 7 persons are said to be injured in a boiler unit blast at Neyveli Lignite Corporation on Thursday. The incident reportedly happened at  thermal station II.

According to a report by TOI, two of the affected employees are regular workers while the rest are contract workers. The condition of two contract workers who sustained 70% of burn injuries is said to be critical.

The cause of the accident could not be ascertained immediatly. However, the company suspects that overheat and high pressure might have been the reasons.   

In addition to the NLC's in-house fire fighting system, the Tamil Nadu Fire Department sent fire tenders to the spot to assist.
