BIG SPIKE AGAIN! 508 NEW POSITIVE CASES, 2 DEATHS REPORTED IN TAMIL NADU; ADDITIONAL COVID-19 DETAILS LISTED

Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, 5 May, reported 508 new cases of COVID-19 taking the total number of cases in the state 4058. Of the 508 new cases, 279 were from Chennai alone.

Press Note from the Health Ministry said a large number of today’s cases are linked to Koyambed Market.

Two persons succumbed to the virus on the date taking the death toll of the state to 33.

Total number of active cases on date - 2537

Total number of Male/Female/Transgender tested positive today – 353/154/1

Total number of Male/Female/Transgender tested positive till date – 2745/1311/2

Total number of functioning COVID-19 testing facilities – 50 (36 government and 14 private)

Total number of samples tested till date – 1,74,828

Total number of samples tested today – 11,858

Total number of persons tested till date – 1,65,191

Total number of persons tested today – 11,702

Total number of suspected individuals in isolation ward admission – 3198

Total number of patients discharged following treatment till date– 1485

Total number of patients discharged following treatment today – 76
