The Madras High Court has reportedly directed the Election Commission to announce the R K Nagar constituency by-polls before December 31. The constituency has been lying vacant since the death of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in December 2016. Earlier, the Election Commission cancelled the by-polls citing irregularities in the conduct of candidates.
