Dhoni explains why Jadeja stepped down as CSK captain.
The 46th league match of the IPL series was played at the Pune ground yesterday. The Chennai Super Kings, led by Dhoni, and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by Kane Williamson, clashed. Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bowl Batting first, CSK scored 2 for 85 in 20 overs. Natarajan took 2 wickets for Hyderabad.
Batting next, Hyderabad scored 189 for 6 in 20 overs. So CSK won by 13 runs. For CSK, Mukesh Chaudhary took 4 wickets and Mitchell Sandner and Dwayne Pretorius took 1 wicket each.
Speaking after the match, Dhoni explained the reason for Jadeja's resignation as CSK captain. In it, ‘Jadeja knew last year that he was going to be the captain this season. I was the one who noticed the captaincy responsibility in the first 2 games. I then told Jadeja that you have to make the decisions for the team.
Back then, when I was in charge as a captain, I was told to make bold decisions in many matters. But, as the series went on, the pressure of the captaincy affected his batting and bowling. His mind was also exhausted. That's why Jadeja left, "said Dhoni.
All-rounder Jadeja has taken over as captain of the CSK team in the current IPL series. Chennai team played 8 matches under his leadership and won only 2 matches. So the pressure was on him to win the next few matches. Thus Jadeja Sotappi came in batting and bowling. Dhoni has said that Jadeja has stepped down as captain because of this.
