Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been making headlines since a couple of days. Few days back, he stole the limelight after reports that he has violated the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) terms and conditions after signing with a telecom company because as per protocol, the players need to report those approaches to ICC.

Within few hours, the BCB issued a show-cause notice to the captain. Not just that, BCB had also decided to take legal action against the star player before the Test Series against team India.

Later in the day, the International Cricket Council confirmed stating that Shakib Al Hasan has been handed a two-year ban from all cricket with a year of suspended sentence for failing to report approaches from bookies on numerous occasions.

There were three charges against him and he has accepted to all three charges of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code. Minutes after the ban, he told media that, "I am obviously extremely sad to have been banned from the game I love, but I completely accept my sanction for not reporting the approaches. The ICC ACU is reliant on players to play a central part in the fight against corruption and I didn’t do my duty in this instance."

"Like the majority of players and fans around the world, I want cricket to be a corruption free sport and I am looking forward to working with the ICC ACU team to support their education programme and ensure young players don’t make the same mistake I did," he further added.

Things have not been certain for the all-rounder after World Cup 2019, where he scored five fifties along with two centuries in just eight matches. But soon after that, the team lost the one-off Test against Afghanistan at home ground. He was also heading the strike which ended after the BCB accepted the demands.

As per india Today report, Hasan was banned for not reporting an approach from a bookie. Seems like, he was approached by a bookie around two years ago. It was only after ICC’s anti-corruption team sat down and spoke to him where he admitted to his mistake.

Following this hassle, Hasan is currently doubtful for the Team India tour.
