The latest news from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) is Rupa Gurunath who is the daughter of former BCCI chief and current CSK franchise owner, N Srinivasan has been elected as the president.

Rupa Gurunath becomes first woman president for TNCA

The information was confirmed on September 26 (Thursday) at the TNCA's 87th Annual General Meeting held in Chennai. Reportedly Rupa Gurunath had been elected as TNCA president unanimously without any opposition. As per Scroll.in, Rupa is the first woman president for a state union of the Indian Cricket Board.

Rupa remained to be the only nominated candidate for the post of president on the last day of nomination (September 25). Therefore, as per TNCA norms, she was elected as the president. Earlier, the TNCA's Executive meeting had been decided to hold on Thursday.

Rupa Gurunath is the wife of Gurunath Meiyappan who was issued life ban from cricket owing to his involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. Meanwhile, an investigation is in the process after some of the unnamed officials, players and coaches from TNCA were accused of match-fixing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) franchise recently.
