The 17-year-old fast bowler, Rasikh Salam, comes from a small village from Kashmir, called Ashmuji. Coming from a very humble background,  he has now become the second player after Parvez Rasool to play in the IPL.
He came into the scene when he got a hattrick in a practice match at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium. He has been growing through the ranks from the state's Under-19 team and then to play in the Vijay Hazare trophy where he took 3 wickets in the 2 games. He has also picked up 7 wickets in the 2 first class matches that he has played.

Rasikh Salam rise to IPL

Irfan Pathan who was the captain and mentor of Jammu and Kashmir in the 2018-2019 season recognized his talent during the talent hunt. "I've been very lucky to be nursed by a star player like Irfan, who represented India at the highest level." Rasikh said.

Then the Mumbai Indians franchise scouts spotted him during the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy when he got a 6 wicket haul.  He was taken to the Mumbai Indians nets for trials and had impressed, which is why they got him in the auction.

Surprisingly, he featured in the first game of the Mumbai Indians against the Delhi Capitals, where he impressed with the pace and attitude. Sharing the dressing room with legends in the Mumbai Indians camp will definitely help him improve him at this stage, and every moment will be a new learning experience. He has had a very promising start to his career and hope with age and experience, he gets better and soon goes on to represent India at the highest level.
