India recently announced the squad for the 2019 Cricket Worldcup and Ajinkya Rahane was not a part of it.

Rahane looking to play for Hampshire in County Cricket

Since the 2015 world cup, Rahane has had the opportunity to play in 10 innings and he hasn't been very bad. He has managed to get 420 runs at an average of 46.66.  However, he has not managed to keep his spot and has been dropped for a while now.

Now, after being dropped from the Worldcup squad as well, Ajinkya Rahane has expressed interest in playing first-class cricket in the English County Cricket for Hampshire. It is said that he has asked permission from BCCI to play in the county cricket.  Recently we saw Pujara and Ashwin feature in county cricket. So it is expected that BCCI will not reject Rahane's proposal and we can expect to see him in county cricket soon.

We have seen a number of players benefit from county cricket and hopefully, Rahane gets a new dimension as well and improve his game.
