Adding another feather to his cap, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has become the only second wicket-keeper to claim 100 catches in the IPL. Dhoni reached this huge IPL milestone while playing against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in Dubai.
This big achievement took place in the 18th over of the KXIP innings when Shardul Thakur bowled a wide one to KL Rahul. KXIP then tried his best to guide it past third man but ended up getting an outside edge.
Dhoni, who is known for his swift footwork, dived to hold on to a sharp catch. Following which Dhoni became the second wicket-keeper after Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik to take 100 catches in the Indian Premier League in 195 matches.
As per Hindustan Times report, Karthik is at the top of the list with 103 catches in 186 matches. He overall has 133 catches in IPL, which is the most by any cricketer in a T20 league. Not just that, Karthik has also taken 30 catches as a fielder.
However, Dhoni currently leads the chart with most dismissals as a keeper in the IPL. Till date, Dhoni has taken 139 dismissals to his name out of which 39 of those being stumpings while Karthik is second on the list with 133.
Even Rajasthan Royals' (RR) cricketer Robin Uthappa is on the list; he comes third with 90 dismissals as a keeper.
Talking about yesterday's match KXIP, who opted to bat first put up 178 for 4 riding on a 63-run innings from their captain KL Rahul. CSK, who had a big win, hammered KXIP by 10 wickets in Dubai to end their three-match losing streak and jump to the sixth spot on the points table.
CSK currently has two wins in their first five games of IPL 2020. They will be hoping to continue their winning run in the upcoming matches after their dominating win over KXIP. CSK will lock horns against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their next game on Wednesday.
