According to The Quint report, Tambe has been found guilty of disregarding BCCI policies; he had participated in a foreign league, without officially announcing his retirement or seeking permission from BCCI.

This news about his disqualification was confirmed by IPL governing council chairman Brijesh Patel, who told Hindustan Times over the phone that “Tambe had initially announced his retirement. But he then came out of his retirement, after which he took part in the Mumbai League. He then went and played in Dubai in T10 League without informing anyone. We have disqualified him from the IPL as he is a current player and he did not take permission from the board."

"We have conveyed the decision to Kolkata Knight Riders and they will be allowed a replacement for the disqualified player,” Patel further added.

Tambe, was the senior most player to be sold at the auctions in December when KKR bought him for Rs 20 lakh.

Highlighting about his career, Tambe has earlier played 33 IPL matches in four seasons from 2013 and 2016. He has also been part of three different franchises - Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Lions and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
