With Kolkata gearing up to host the auction for the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), here's is the list of players who are likely to be released by their respective teams.
Mumbai Indians - Barinder Sran
Mumbai Indians bought Sran for a whopping Rs 3.4 crore. But, with an economy 12.75 and zero wickets, he apparently did not justify his price tag.
Royal Challengers Bangalore - Shimron Hetmyer
Though RCB bought Hetmyer for Rs 4.2 crore, the chemistry failed to bloom. Prior to the last auction, Hetmyer scored 259 runs in the ODI series at a strike rate of 140, but in the last season he just made 75 runs out of 5 matches.
Rajasthan Royals - Jaydev Unadkat
Rajasthan Royals bought Unadkat for a whopping Rs 8.4 crore in the 2019 auction. In the 11 matches he played, Unadkat took just 10 wickets at an economy rate of 10.66.
Delhi Capitals - Colin Ingram
Bought for Rs 6.4 crore ahead of IPL 2019, Ingram underperformed with an average of 18.4 after 12 games.
Kings XI Punjab - Varun Chakravarthy
The spinner played just one game in the last season and gave away 25 runs in the first over. With spinners like R Ashwin, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Murugan Ashwin, the franchise barely needs Chakravarthy.
Kolkata Knight Riders - Carlos Brathwaite
Bought for Rs 5 crore as a back-up for Andre Russell ahead of IPL 2019, Brathwaite did not pick any wickets in the two matches he played while conceding runs at a rate of 9.66.
Sunrisers Hyderabad - Martin Guptill
Bought as a replacement for Jonny Bairstow ahead of IPL 2019, Guptill scored just 81 runs with a highest of 36 from three matches.
Chennai Super Kings - Kedar Jadhav
With Ravindra Jadeja in his best form in recent days and local talents like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Narayan Jagadeesan, Jadhav might be surplus to CSK's requirements.
