World Cup fans are gripped to their TV's after Sri Lankan's batting line up collapsed like a pack of cards against Afghanistan as eight of their batsmen are now back to pavilion without even scorecard touching the 200-mark.

CWC2019: Afganistan\'s Nabi takes 3 wickets in 1 over against SL

What came as a surprise was, off-spinner Mohammad Nabi who did the maximum damage by taking four wickets, three of which came in one over. According to Indian Express report, Nabi first struck in the 14th over and removed skipper Dimuth Karunaratne after his 92-run stand for the first wicket. After Karunaratne departure, Sri Lanka kept going fluently before Nabi wreaked havoc in the 22nd over dismiss Lahiru Thirimanne (25), Kusal Mendis (2) and Angelo Mathews (0) reducing Sri Lanka to 146/4.

"The conditions are suitable for the bowlers and there’s cloudy weather, so it’s a good toss to win. We took a lot of things from our last game against Australia. Sri Lanka are a champion side so it depends on the day if we play our best cricket," Naib said.

Earlier in the day, Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib won the toss and elected to field.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne said: “We batted first in the last game. Now we know how the conditions will play. I think our batsmen have some ideas on how to score. It’s not a 300 wicket but we should know how to get our best score on this wicket."

Currently, RAIN STOPS THE GAME! The covers are out as rain gets thick. Afghanistan will be hoping play resumes soon as they are on top right now. Sri Lanka 182/8 after 33 overs.

Both sides were soundly beaten in their first matches of the tournament in England and Wales. While, former champions Sri Lanka were thumped by 10 wickets by New Zealand on the same ground while Afghanistan went down by seven wickets to defending champions Australia in Bristol.
