CSK CEO SHARES UPDATE ON DWAYNE BRAVO’S REPLACEMENT IF HE GETS RULED OUT FROM IPL 2020  

During the match between Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC), fans were worried about the decision of CSK captain, MS Dhoni giving Ravindra Jadeja for the final over against DC with death-over specialist Dwayne Bravo having an over left in his quota.

Only after the match, it later got clarified by Dhoni about the injury that Bravo picked up as head coach Stephen Fleming revealed that the veteran all-rounder might be out for a few days owing to a groin injury.

Bravo, who is known as CSK's death bowling specialist and highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket, is currently injured again and hopes to miss a “few days or a couple of weeks,” according to Stephen Fleming.

“He seems to have a right groin injury, I think, and it was obviously serious enough to keep him off the field,” Fleming said at the post-match press conference.

Meanwhile, when asked if CSK will look for Bravo’s replacement, if ruled out of the IPL 2020, the CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that is unlikely.

“I don’t think a replacement is an option at this stage because if a new person comes in, it will again be about having a quarantine period for him before he can join the rest of the squad. It is unlikely that we will look at a replacement for Bravo if he is out. But firstly we are hoping Bravo isn’t out and the injury isn’t major,” he told ANI.

However, Bravo’s absence in the team could be a big chance for Imran Tahir and New Zealand spin-bowling allrounder Mitchell Santner for the Super Kings.

Last year, Tahir was the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2019, with 26 strikes at an economy rate of 6.69. In IPL 2020, Tahir and Santner are the only overseas players who have not played for CSK yet.

CSK's next match is against the Rajasthan Royals in Abu Dhabi on Monday (October 19).
