Anil Kumble has recently picked his IPL XI and has made some interesting choices. It is always difficult to pick just XI players after a massive tournament where so many players have performed well.

Anil Kumble explains about not including Kohli in his IPL XI

Anil Kumble's IPL XI: David Warner, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni (c,wk), Hardik Pandya, Andre Russell, Shreyas Gopal, Imran Tahir, Kagiso Rabada, Jasprit Bumrah.

One of the questions asked was regarding the absence of Virat Kohli in the team. Kohli has scored 463 runs in the tournament whereas Iyer has 442 and still has made the team.
Kumble's reply was “Iyer is young and has done really well. He has batted in difficult conditions. The Delhi pitch hasn’t been great but he’s led from the front, Was thinking of keeping Virat, Iyer, and Dhoni as No. 3, 4, and 5 but wanted to have a left-hander in the side. Therefore I’m opting for Rishabh pant. Pant has shown a lot of maturity, scored runs for Delhi Capitals,”

Warner and Bairstow have been the most successful opening combination this season. But because of the balance of the team and the restriction of having four overseas players, he had to go for KL Rahul.

This still is a great team with the kind of players listed and would be great fun to watch this team take the field.
