According to reports, the price of medicines in India is set to increase after the rollout of the goods and services tax. The 18 percent slab on the active pharmaceutical ingredients and raw materials is said to be the reason behind this price increase. However, the price of essential drugs that treat malaria, HIV-AIDS, tuberculosis, and diabetes are expected to remain the same.
