According to reports, the state of Maharashtra on Tuesday became the first Indian state to provide free contraceptive injections to women under the state's family planning programme. The injection reportedly contains a female birth-control hormone, preventing pregnancy for up to three months. Speaking to the press, a government official added, "It will help women who are not able to convince their partners to use contraceptives."
