According to reports, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation officials have collected over Rs 1.7 crore as fine from as many as 85,000 passengers, who were caught smoking at bus stations. "The intention is not just to generate revenue but also to create awareness about the health effects of smoking among the public," said an official. Notably, a fine of Rs 200 has been imposed on the defaulters.
