Sufiya Khan of India holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest four-lane road connecting major Indian cities in 110 days.

Sufiya Khan hails from Ajmer, Rajasthan. She was interested in athletics from a young age and got a job as an assistant at the Delhi airport. However, the lioness resigned from her job because of her desire to be an athlete.

Achievement

Sufiya Khan has set various records so far. She ran the 480 km stretch of the Le-Manali Highway in 6 days, 12 hours and 6 minutes and stunned everyone. Similarly, in the year 2019, Sufiya ran from Kashmir to Kanyakumari for 87 days non-stop and finally reached Kanyakumari. She was awarded the Guinness Book of World Records for this.

Yet again, she has set another Guinness World Record. The athlete set a new record of 6,002 km in 110 days, 23 hours and 24 minutes on the Golden Quadrilateral, the national highway connecting the four major cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.

Confidence

She says she never thought of giving up to attempt in the relentless flow. Commenting on the achievement, Sufia Khan said, "Though there were very many injuries that happened during the run my full focus was on completing this attempt in minimum time. Almost all the cities where I was running through, runners and cyclists were joining and supporting us. Most of the time in cities and small-town people were hosting me at their home for a night stay and dinner. Many times during the attempt we took hotels and couple of nights we had to sleep on roadside shelters."

Her husband has been a supporter of her initiative. While she was running, her husband, also travelled along with her in a car, took care of her nutrition and physiotherapy and managed her schedule.
