As per NDTV reports, soon after the incident the police was alerted about it and the scamster has been arrested. A team of Punjab police arrested the fraudster after tracing his phone call to Ranchi in Jharkhand.

After investigation the police revealed that, Kaur who is also Congress MP, received a call a few days ago when she was in Delhi to attend the Parliament session. Winning his trust as the manager of a nationalised bank, the caller told Kaur that he wanted her bank account details to deposit her salary.

During his few minutes of chat with Kaur, he managed to get the MP's account number, ATM pin, CVC number and an OTP (one time password).

Only after receiving an SMS that said, 'a sum of Rs. 23 lakh was debited from your account'- she panicked. She, then, informed the police about the incident and alerted her family.

Confirming on the same, Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police Mandeep Singh Sidhu on Wednesday said that the accused has been arrested and will be bringing him from Jharkhand.
