Pregnant woman saved after man donates rare blood

A 34-year-old man from Bengaluru with a rare blood type - HH negative - has saved a pregnant woman in Chennai by donating a unit of his blood. Aditya Hegde rushed to Chennai after receiving a call on December 18 and was back in Bengaluru the next day after donating blood. Reports suggest that the woman delivered a healthy baby and was out of danger. HH negative, also known as the Bombay phenotype, is found in one in 10,000 people in India and in one in a million people in Europe, say reports. Aditya has donated blood 55 times since 2000 to people from not just in Bengaluru, but also from Delhi, Hubli, Shivamogga, Pakistan, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, reports added.
