In Kerala’s Kollam district, a man was forced to carry his old and ailing father and walk for almost one km, after being stopped by the police for travelling in an auto rickshaw during lockdown.

The old man, who is a resident of Kulathupuzha village in Kerala’s Kollam district was admitted to the Punalur Taluk District Hospital. After being discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, the family was intervened by the police, on their way back home in an autorickshaw. 

Allegedly, the police stopped the rickshaw citing lockdown guidelines and did not allow them to travel further. Despite the family producing hospital documents to the police, they did not consider.

Finally, the worried son was left with no other option but to carry his father and walk to the Punalur city area on foot. According to a NDTV report, the Kerala State Human Rights Commission has registered a suo moto case in connection to this incident.

Taking a look at the COVID-19 cases in Kerala, it has registered 388 cases so far. According to the data provided by Union Ministry of health, 218 patients have been cured and discharged till date.
