8TH DEATH REPORTED IN INDIA, MAN HAD NO TRAVEL HISTORY: REPORTS HOSPITAL

Amid lockdown in over 80 cities across the country, India reported its eighth coronavirus-linked death which took place in Kolkata today. The patient was 57-year-old, who surprisingly had no history of foreign travel. He was a resident of Dumdum in North 24 Parganas district. 

8th COVID-19 death in Bengal, man had no travel history

As per News18 report, the man was admitted to a private hospital with fever and dry cough on March 19; few days back he became the fourth person in the state to have tested positive for coronavirus. He was later admitted to the ICU and breathed his last around 3:35 pm today after multi-organ failure.

Meanwhile, the first patient to be affected in Bengal was a student who returned from UK. 

However, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has declared a lockdown in all the urban areas of the state. She also converted an indoor stadium in Kolkata to a makeshift hospital as part of preparations for coronavirus.
