TOP 'IT COMPANIES' TO BRING 'THOUSANDS OF TECHIES' AND THEIR FAMILIES BACK TO INDIA! - DETAILS

Indian IT service firms have been bringing back their employees who are stranded over-seas due to the travel bans to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus infection. Over 2,000 employees have been brought back to India.

Various tech giants, including Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, and Wipro have brought back their employees. These companies have a significant population working in the U.S., the U.K., Europe, Japan, and Australia. Since the visa issues were brought in at the U.S. these companies were forced to bring their employees back as well.

Both Wipro and Tech Mahindra brought back hundreds of employees and their families who suffered from the U.S. visa cancellation.

Harshvendra Soin, global chief people officer and head of marketing at Tech Mahindra said, “Last week, we have also brought back employees from Japan, and are working towards bringing back associates who are stranded in similar situations from other locations like Europe and Australia.”

A Wipro spokesperson said, “Employees were also brought home from the UK via the Vande Bharat Mission flight. These included employees whose visas have either expired or are close to expiry. Plans are afoot to organize charter flights from Australia later this month.”

“It helps to save or realign the cost also for service providers. If someone who is not required overseas is kept overseas, it adds to the cost for service providers,” said Pareekh Jain, founder of outsourcing advisory firm Pareekh Consulting. “This is a proactive measure by service providers to realign their operations and cost without waiting for commercial travel to become normal,” he said.

Tata Consultancy Services’ spokesperson said that the company has brought back 900 of its employees since the on-set of the pandemic. Infosys, is estimated to have brought back a few hundred employees from abroad.
