COGNIZANT ENDS 'WORK FROM HOME' - PLANS BRINGING EMPLOYEES BACK TO OFFICE IN 3 INDIAN CITIES - REPORT

While ITeS in India have been working from home for several months now, citing the spread of the novel coronavirus, some are focusing on strategically bringing employees back to their work place.

Cognizant, on Monday has announced that they will be bringing their employees back to their workplaces in Chennai, Pune, and Hyderabad. This is said to happen in a phased manner. The company told its employees that it will re-open office premises in a “measured way” in order to bring back specific employees.

By specific employees, the company has explained that only those who are delivering services “that cannot be delivered remotely because of high dependence on office infrastructure and networks, or those who have client, information security and confidentiality considerations,” will be asked to return to the office.

“We will open our offices in accordance with directives from local authorities and will continue to closely monitor the situation. Only skeleton staff will work from offices, as required. All other employees continue to work from home,” said a Cognizant spokesperson in response to Economic Time’s queries.

“As we take our next steps in transitioning back to the office, based on business criticality, offices in Chennai have been identified to reopen in the coming weeks,” a note read.

While Cognizant is yet to bring its employees back, Wipro is currently working with 10% of its employees in its campus. Infosys has also resumed its operation with 15% of its employees in the office premises. Tata Consultancy Agency has said that it will bring back 5% of its employees this quarter.
