Amid lockdown what comes as a huge relief is that, the Union Ministry for Home Affairs (MHA) has issued guidelines under Lockdown 4.0 where both essential and non-essential items can be delivered by e-commerce platforms.

The firms which can deliver these items are Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal and others to all places outside containment zones. Which means that online shopping sites are now open for all citizens!

Even if you are residing in red, orange, green, or buffer zones, the e-commerce delivery will now begin.

Earlier, 'non-essential' items were allowed to be delivered in just green and orange zones while only 'essential' items were allowed to be delivered in red zones. But, now with the new rules and guidelines both essential and non-essential items will be delivered.

As soon as this order was implemented, Amazon has started accepting non-essential orders for red zones after they welcomed the government's order. Meanwhile, Amazon said it will help them deliver a wider selection of products maintaining precautions and social distancing.

"This will give a fillip to the 6 lakh retailers and MSMEs on our marketplace and help revive economic activity more broadly. We are humbled by the opportunity to be an extended partner to the Government as it balances saving lives alongside creating livelihood. We remain committed as always to ensuring the safety of our customers and our employees while creating business and employment opportunity," an Amazon spokesperson said.

The move has been initiated to allow e-commerce platforms to deliver non-essentials items as a major boost to companies.
