ORU MUTHASSI GADHA MOVIE REVIEW CLICK TO RATE THE MOVIE

Oru Muthassi Gadha (A Granny's mace) is the latest addition to the Malayalam movies that have released aiming to make the most of the Onam festival season. Written and directed by Jude Anthany Joseph after the big success of Om Shanti Oshana, Oru Muthassi Gadha has debutante Rajini Chandy, dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi, Suraj Venjarammoodu, Lena and Aparna Balamurali playing important roles.

The movie has a simple plot rooted in the attitude and life of grandmother Rowdy Leelamma (Rajini Chandy). Director Jude Anthany has written the screenplay based on the story idea by Nivin Pauly, and has succeeded in making an energetic feel good movie that highlights the importance of grandparents. Humour forms the essence of the movie and makes it more engaging in the second half. The opening and final scenes lightly convey a social message and the inclusion of Lal Jose and his meaningful words add color to it.

The picturesque greenery of Idukki has become an inevitable element of a Malayalam movie and it has been shot by cinematographer Vinod Illampilly with its soul intact. The music scored by Shaan Rahman is pretty decent and assist the screenplay, but does not make an everlasting impact.

Bhagyalakshmi stands out with her natural and effortless acting. Newbie Rajini Chandy carries her character comfortably with great energy. She is the soul of the movie and has delivered a decent but slightly amateurish performance. Suraj, Lena, Aparna Balamurali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Vijayaraghavan, Ramesh Pisharody and Rajeev Pillai have played their parts effectively, but the real surprise is the director himself playing a comic role. Vineeth Sreenivansan's cameo adds the star element to the movie.

Oru Muthassi Gadha is another woman centric film from Jude Anthany Joseph after the state award winner Om Shanti Oshana that guarantees entertainment.
