TWO MOVIES WITH SAME STORIES HIT ROADBLOCK

Director Pradeep M Nair's Prithviraj starrer "Vimanam" based on the life of Saji Thomas, a physically restricted man who built an aeroplane by himself, has hit a roadblock due to similarities in its story with another movie having Vineeth Sreenivasan in the lead.

Screenwriter Santhosh Echikkanam, who has scripted the Vineeth movie, claims that his film is not related to Saji Thomas. Santhosh maintains that he had written the story even before he heard about Saji.

Director Pradeep had approached Saji and obtained the rights from him to do a movie on his life. When he heard about Santhosh's project, he approached the Kerala Film Director's Union (FEFKA) to resolve the matter. 

A meeting was held under directors B Unnikrishnan and AK Sajan, and the union decided to grant permission to shoot both the movies as they did not see much similarities. But Pradeep M Nair was not satisfied with the decision and he proclaimed that he he will take the matter to the court.
