EXPECTATION METER

There is a reason why Ameer's movies evoke curiosity and expectations. In a career spanning a decade, he has directed only 4 movies and all of them were received with critical acclaim. His Aadhi Bhagavan went on floors in the year 2010 and has been in the production for about three years now. It also looked like the film will land itself in trouble when a lawyer in the city lodged a complaint against the title which he claimed was hurtful of Hindu sentiments. The demand was to change the title of the movie altogether. Ameer, however, refused any intentions to do so and changed the title instead to Ameerin Aadhi Bhagavan.

Jayam Ravi plays the lead in this action thriller, written and directed by Ameer himself. The posters are dark and promise a gritty product. Jayam Ravi is apparently playing a gangster in the movie on the evidence of the trailers but there is a surprise regarding his role which would be known when the movie releases.

Jayam Ravi is joined by Neetu Chandra, the talented Sudha Chandran, Babu Antony, Saiju Kurup along with Ameer himself in a cameo appearance for a song. Ameerin Aadhi Bhagavan went under the censor scissors and managed an A certificate, a dreadful prospect for distributors in the Tamil film industry where an A is considered to be hindrance for the family audience market. Ravi tweeted in the A certificate's defense saying that it is owing to the new stricter censor rules and has nothing to do with vulgarity, violence or crime in the movie.

Ameerin Aadhi Bhagavan is scored by Yuvan, an Ameer regular, and the track consists of 6 songs. The songs received favorable reviews and are expected to become more popular after the movie's release. With K. Devaraj's cinematography and SP Ahmed's editing, Ameerin Aadhi Bhagavan is shot across various locations in India and Canada.
