Superstar has played the tough guy innumerable times. Many would have their personal choices, but we picked Thalapathy and Baasha. Thalapathi is a strong contender for Rajinikanth’s best performance ever. It cut out on all regular Superstar ingredients like the signature comedy sequences, the glitzy songs and the flashy fights. It was raw and real and Rajini reveled in the role of a lifetime. Baasha was more commercial, used the Superstar’s style and inimitable punch lines to deliver one cracker of a movie. Apart from these two, who would forget his vintage Billa - the smuggler ?
