'Selvaraghavan's the most promising director of this generation' - Maniratnam - Event Story

Aug 04, 2013

The audio release of the highly anticipated Selvaraghavan - Harris Jayaraj combination of Irandam Ulagam took place this morning at Sathyam Cinemas in a well conducted event.
The event played host to some big names in the industry such as Gnanavel Raja, UTV Dhananjayan, T.Shiva, Director Kannan, Lingusamy, Kasthoori Raja and Magizh Thirumeni among various others. But the occasion received a massive boost with the presence of actor Suriya and director Maniratnam.
Also in attendance were the core team of Irandam Ulagam - Selvaraghavan, Arya, Anushka, Harris Jayaraj, Kola Bhaskar, Ramji and the film's producer Prasad V Potluri.
During their speeches many took the chance to talk about Selvaraghavan's unique vision.
K.V.Anand said that he wanted Arya in 3 films but couldn't. He and Selva supposedly exchanged notes during Mayakkam Enna and Ko and he even changed his idea for his next film since it was similar to KV Anand's next project with Dhanush.
A former associate of Selvaraghavan, Magizh Thirumeni spoke highly of the director and his most treasured memento, which was a letter from Maniratnam which said Selvaraghavan was the most promising director of the new generation.
Selvaraghavan's father Kasthoori Raja quipped that even he could never understand his son but appreciated the producer PVP Cinemas for having done so. In response to that lyricist Vairamuthu drew a beautiful analagy by stating that the nectar in a lotus is noticed by only the bee and not by any other surroundings.
Harris Jayaraj expressed his excitement over striking a rapport with the director almost instantly. Maniratnam pointed out the detailed BGM in the trailer and said that Harris would have a lot of work to do for the whole film. He was particularly appreciative of Selvaraghavan's confidence and the way he creates astonishing scenes.
Anushka earnestly believed that the film would be a pathbreaker. She credited PVP Cinemas for standing by the project and its crew during difficult times. Arya said that he took this project up as a challenge and said that the spirit of the team took them through the tough times. He was also happy to reunite with Harris Jayaraj.  He said the heroine's role could only be played by Anushka and if it was anyone else it would have turned out to be comical.
Selvaraghavan was his usual outspoken self as he harped on the overkill of comedy films and the lack of support for other adventurous ventures but guaranteed that Irandam Ulagam would be a total entertainer.
The CD was unveiled by KV Anand and received by Maniratnam. If there was one thing that was grander than the event it most certainly would have to be the film's trailer.
