When AR Rahman composed a tune for Kalaignar Karunanidhi's lyrics

The World Classical Tamil Conference alias Semmozhi Maanadu was held in the year 2010. The several scholars, poets, film stars and political leaders took part in the event that was held in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu between June 23rd and 27th, 2010. The event was chaired by the then chief minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi and was organized by his government.

The promotional theme song for the event, 'Semmozhiyaana Thamizh Mozhiyaam' was penned by Kalaignar Karunanidhi with music by AR Rahman. The video was directed by Gautham Menon which had various artists, musicians, and singers.

'Semmozhiya' is a tribute song to the Tamil language, features a fusion of various musical styles, including Carnatic, Folk, Acoustic, Sufi, Rock and Rap.

Kalaignar's death is a huge loss for the film industry but as long as his works linger in our heart, he will always live.
