Amala Paul will be next seen playing the lead role in Aadai, which is written and directed by M. Rathna Kumar of 'Meyaadha Maan' fame. The film is slated to hit the screens on July 19.

Director Rathna Kumar talks about Aadai, Amala Paul and much more

In an interview to Behindwoods, Aadai's director, Rathna Kumar spoke about what went into the making of this film. When asked about the conception of Aadai, he said "I had a rough draft of the film even before working on Meyaadha Maan. But there had been some events in recent times that was reflected on the film's content. Hence I felt it will be relevant for today's times."

The director then had went on to explain his decision to cast Amala Paul in the film. He said "She was interested in the film during the synnopsis stage itself." He had also said that "I felt Amala Paul will be a perfect fit to the character because she is a fighter off-screen to, and has revamped from many challenges."

When asked about including a nude scene in the teaser, he said "My motive was to not only pull the audiences, but to also communicate to  them on what to expect from the film. If it weren't included, the film audience might feel cheated and the opinions will be polarized."

The director was all praise for the actress when he mentioned a particular scene where Amala Paul was required to get down a flight of stairs and barge into a room. He said "She climbed down five flights of stairs with an iron rod in hand and locked herself in the room. The shot was ready and she came there from the third floor. The performance was so intense and the performance expressed fear. I felt like a sadist, when I experienced the performance."
