The 5th Behindwoods Gold Medal Awards was conducted on June 17th in Chennai Trade Centre. Apart from honoring celebrities, we had also initiated to honor four individuals who have made significant contributions to the welfare of the society with Eminence awards.

The Director-General of Police, who was brought to the spotlight through the film, Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, which was based on one of his cases, is nothing short of a hero. Mr. S.R. Jangid has led high sensitive operations like the encounter of one of the most wanted gangster team 'Vellai' Ravi and his accomplices, encounter of “Pank” Kumar, detection of sensational grill offences by securing criminals in West Bengal, the capture of Oma Bawaria, the leader of the Bawaria criminal gang and his accomplices, who were involved in a number of sensational crimes of murders and dacoities including the murder of Gumudipoondi MLA K. Sudarsanam. Mr. Jangid was also instrumental in controlling the communal riots in Southern Tamilnadu, ie, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Madurai regions in the 90’s. He is the most decorated police officer of the country, received The Park Group of Institutions Presents Behindwoods Gold Medal for Eminence in Service to Mankind from Theeran's Producer SR Prabhu & Director H.Vinoth.

Mr. S.R. Jangid in his speech said “I thank the Behindwoods for giving me this opportunity. All the credit goes to the police constables, who are the backbone, Sub-inspectors, inspectors and the DSPs who constituted my strong team. It was due to the devotion of this team that we were able to achieve this glory. I am grateful to the government of Tamilnadu for giving me the opportunity. I have all my praise for Director Vinoth for using this detective story in the movie and actor Karthik for playing his role perfectly impressive.”
