Actress Chithra makes a comeback to films

Chithra, a popular yesteryear actress who was introduced to Tamil cinema as a child artiste by none other than the legendary director K. Balachander, makes a comeback to acting after a long, 18 year old hiatus.

After sharing screen space with Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in Raaja Paarvai, again as a child artiste, she went to be the heroine in films with Mollywood giant Mohanlal in 'Aatta Kalasam'. Her career spanned about 300 films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, including Oorkaavalan, Cheran Pandian, Madhumathi, Pondatti Rajyam and so on.

Marriage and family life led to her taking a break from movies. Now that her daughter is well placed in school, she finds no reason to extend the break.

We look forward to seeing you in films, Ma'am! All the best!

Ghibran's Amara Kaaviyam promises great music
P.Vetriselvan, who was a former assistant of director S.J.Surya happened to work in Jeeva Shankar's Naan as a co-director. After impressing Jeeva with his work, Vetri also got the opportunity to write lyrics for a couple of numbers in the director's upcoming Amara Kaaviyam, which has music by Ghibran.

The special aspect here is that veteran singer Chithra is making a comeback to playback singing after quite awhile and Vetri feels honoured to have written the lyrics for her song. (In the news image, Vetri is seen with the legendary singer and composer Ghibran)

There are 5 songs totally in the album, with Madhan Karky, Parvathy and Ashwin being the other lyricists. The album is set for release towards the end of June with Sony Music South holding the music rights.
