Remembering the Tamil films based on cricket before India takes on South Africa in today's match.
Cricket and Cinema are like the Siamese twins deeply rooted in the culture of Tamilians. Both are more than entertainment, meaning so much to the audience. Today’s India Vs South Africa ODI match happening in our very own Chepauk stadium is one important game for the Men In Blue to stay alive in the series.

So, let’s take it as a chance to bring back those Tamil movies that included the gentlemen’s game as a core plot.

Chennai 600028 by Venkat Prabhu was thoroughly based on gully cricket and the film till today is a trendsetter loved by all. Potta Potti by Yuvraj had our very own Indian cricketer Sadagopan Ramesh playing the lead. Dhoni directed by Prakash Raj himself dealt the conflict of interest between a dad and a son regarding career interest. Though Nadula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom had a cricket match coming only in the first few minutes of the film, the event was so crucial for the rest of the story. But of all, Jeeva directed by Suseenthiran is one proper cricket movie talking about the plight of the struggling players who just end up dreaming to be part of the Indian cricket team.

There might be more films based on cricket, but these will remain special. Let us also wish Team India for a thumping victory in the ongoing match against South Africa.
