NAYANTHARA DEVISED HER OWN FORMULA FOR DUBBING, VIGNESH SHIVAN

Naanum Rowdy Dhaan directed by Vignesh Shivan featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara and others hit the screens on the 21^st of October and has been lapping up all the positive responses that it can. The film has been hailed as the perfect entertainer and we catch up with the young director to know his feelings post the release of his 2^nd film.

A simple story

Everybody is enjoying the film and I feel good to receive all the positive words of appreciation. When I am watching in theatres, I see that the audiences are enjoying it big time. I just wanted to make a happy film with a sad story underneath. I am glad that my idea has worked well. My idea was to take a simple story and treat it a little differently. I have told my story in the trailer itself, which is an old one, a girl wanting to take a revenge that has been witnessed in many films. My scheme was to take this premise and do it in an opposite manner. It is an emotional script, but I gave a little twist in it in the form of humor. I was a little anxious how it would be received and perceived, but thankfully, it has worked for the audience.   

Nayanthara dubbing for herself

When we use dubbing artists, there is a slight shade of fakeness that somehow creeps in. For us, the best thing was Nayanthara agreeing to dub. After I finished my edits, I showed her and explained that if anybody dubs for her, the effect will be diluted and if she does, it will give an enhanced feel. She understood and accepted. But it was really funny the way she dubbed because she is not used to it. If there was a crying scene, she would put glycerin, cry and speak her lines; if a scene had her sitting, she would sit in a chair and dub, for lying down scenes, she would tilt her head towards one side and speak. She kind of devised her own formula and completed, which was very funny to witness. She acted the scenes once again in the dubbing theatre. And it has really worked very well.   

Appreciation from the industry

People from the industry like director Vijay, Pa. Ranjith, Vishnuvardhan and Vemal called to say they liked the film. Gautham sir will be watching it today and will be sharing his opinion soon. I think this weekend, people would catch up with the film.

On his next project, Vignesh says that it will take some time as he has to sit and work on the next script.
