Balaji Mohan says that Maari would be a relatable commercial film
Ahead of the release of Dhanush's Maari tomorrow, the 17th of July, we spoke to director Balaji Mohan for a few interesting tidbits about the film.

"We shot the movie mainly in Chennai and wrapped everything in about 57 days. A small part of the movie was shot in Tuticorin too.

Maari will be a relatable commercial film and belongs to that space of films which is character driven and not plot driven. But there is a one-line plot which I can't reveal now. Things haven't been stuffed in to the movie just for the sake of it. Dhanush sir also prefers his commercial films like that. There would be 2 fight sequences and few other action moments but Maari wont be templated and blatantly commercial.

Kajal plays Sridevi, a fashion designing student who comes to open a boutique in a local area where Maari resides. The love scenes with Kajal would be unusual, we hope. Manasi has done the dubbing for her and Kajal is experienced enough to take care of her lines and lip-sync."

The already popular punchlines were also written by Balaji and he attributes this to the fact that he grew up seeing such films and listening to such dialogues.
