7 years have passed, and Vijay vs. Vishal is a certainty again

Tall, dark and handsome Vishal is known to never shy away from competing, even if it's a much bigger star's film releasing alongside. Last Diwali, Vishal bravely competed with Ajith's Arrambam and emerged successful with Pandiya Nadu, which earned rave reviews and also completed a 100 day run.

 

For this Diwali, Vishal has already started booking good theaters for his Hari movie Poojai, despite the definite release of Vijay's Kaththi alongside, and the possible entry of Shankar - Vikram's magnum opus 'I' as well.

 

The last time Vishal locked horns with Vijay head-on at the box-office was in 2007 for Pongal, when his Thamirabharani (again directed by Hari) competed with Vijay's Pokkiri. Thamirabharani met with creditable success, along with Pokkiri which went on to be a record setting blockbuster. That Pongal also had a third big player, in the form of Ajith's Alwar.

 

So if 'I' also confirms its release for this Diwali, then the similarities with Pongal 2007 are quite a few indeed. Will it be three biggies together again?
