Aug 25, 2014The man who gave us 'Gandhi' on screen is no more, Richard Attenborough reached the heavenly abode today. We still needed an Englishman to tell us the story of our nation's father, Mahatma Gandhi. Richard Attenborough was an English actor, film director, film producer and an entrepreneur. To know more about him, he is the complacent old man with a hat who comes in 'Jurassic Park'. In the year 1982, he made this biopic about a man who revolutionized the Indian freedom struggle just by non-violence.
Till date, the film 'Gandhi' reprised by award-winning Ben Kingsley is considered the best of the films ever made about the iconic personality. The film got a clean sweep at the Oscars in 1983 with two awards for the director Richard Attenborough himself. The director was praised for his narration and for brilliantly shrinking the life of the great man in a 3 hour film.
The film maker will be forever remembered for his effort in bringing the skin of Gandhi on screen.
