Vijay Sethupathi is a brat, Arya is a Legend

Director S.P.Jhananathan is known for pin pointing the deficiencies in the society through his films like ‘Peraanmai’ and ‘E’. He is up with his next film Purampokku produced by UTV motion pictures along with Binary Pictures. Arya, Vijay Sethupathi, Shaam and Karthika play the lead roles in this film.
 

We had earlier reported that this film is in its final leg of shooting and is being shot at a rapid pace. The captain of the ship S.P.Jhananathan shared few interesting titbits about the movie recently.

The Peraanmai director said “Not all confined in prison are guilty. Many of our historical changes made their debut behind the prison doors. People like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and many leaders created history behind iron bars. The names for the principle characters in Purampokku were selected from the Indian history".

"Arya is named as Balu who was a real legend, born in Madurai and lived in Andhra as a cop later. Karthika is named as Kuyili, lieutenant of Velu Nachiyar; she was the  freedom fighter who swapped herself to be a human bomb to destroy the Britons arm godown. Shaam is named Macualy who designed the education system and punishment rules of the British regime. Vijay Sethupathi is named Yamalingam, an absolute brat of a character".

"The efforts of my principle technicians Ekambaram the cameraman, and the art director Selvakumar have ensured a fabulous journey of shooting schedule in the prison sets which were erected in the city. The support of UTV in fulfilling the requirement of the technical team has been tremendous” .
