Sonna Puriyathu had created good expectations as the teasers were edited & promoted perfectly. Movie is directed by Debutant Krishanan Jayaraj. He was associate director of C.S. Amudhan who gave a blockbuster with Shiva through “Thamizh Padam”.

Story: It is the story of a youngster who is scared of marrying and avoids it by saying various lies to his mom. In short, it looks like remake of Azhagamperumal’s  “Dumm Dumm Dumm” movie comedy version.

Shiva – He plays the role of dubbing artist who dubs for Tamil dubbed Hollywood movies. He gets introduced in the movie by singing a Hindi Song. He is one of the very few actors in Tamil Cinema who makes you laugh for whatever he does. Whatever dialogue he speaks, it looks like a Comedy due to his timing & body language. But, all his recent movies were almost similar and he has to start acting in new scripts to survive in the industry. Audience may get bored if he continues to act in similar scripts.

Vasundhara – She proved that she is a good actress through her movies - Thenmerku Paruvakaatru & Porali. In this movie, she had ample screen presence, but doesn't have much opportunity to show her acting skills. She has done what the character requires in this movie.

Sam Anderson makes a CAMEO in the movie and dances with Tamil Nadu’s Michael Jackson – Shiva.

Music director is Yathish Mahadev. His debut movie was Srikanth’s “Indira Vizha” (inspired from “Disclosure”). Songs in the movie were pretty average but his BGM was good in few scenes.

Cinematography by Saravanan was really good. Songs had been picturized well.

Director Krishnan Jayaraj makes his debut through this movie. First half of the movie was quite good as there are few good comedy scenes. Story of the movie was similar to Dumm Dumm Dumm and it can be written within 2 lines. He has believed that comedy in each and every scene will make the audience forget about the screenplay. Comedy definitely works, but in parts. Second half of the movie is a letdown as it travels without any continuity and ends with abrupt climax.

Overall, Sonna Puriyathu is very strictly for Shiva fans

Rating of this Movie by Common Man – 2 / 5
