They call him the controversial director and his movies provide more fodder for the critics than any other. After hitting (rather crashing on) the headlines with his earlier flicks Uyir and Mirugam, Saami is back with another venture. Sans his usual flamboyance, Saami has rather noiselessly finished his project without much ado.

As the title suggests, the movie seems to touch upon the Indus Valley civilization. At least there are references of the lost civilization. When humanity originated, man had his life intertwined with agriculture, familial ties, art and relationships. Although all those qualities and aspects of life remain intact in current times, man is forced to put on a mask of selfishness thereby leading a dual life.

The movie deals with a pretty basic subject called love; neither unheard of nor unexplored in the world of cinema. But what Saami claims is that human beings are selfish and love can suffer in the hands of such selfishness; quite philosophical indeed. The movie follows the lives of two lovers whose fate gets entangled in the web of selfishness.
  Sindhu Samaveli

Deriving from Saami’s basic plot of the love story, writer Jayamohan has developed a novella, on which Saami’s script is based on. Saami also handles the screenplay and dialogues apart from directing the movie.

Lead roles are played by Harish, Gajini and Amala Paul; an all-debutant star cast. Sindhu Samaveli is scored by Sundar C Babu and produced by Michael Rayappan.

At the outset, the movie doesn’t seem to have anything shocking or controversial. But knowing Saami, it’s too early to conclude anything along those lines. Saami’s name is rather muted in the promos and advertisements – may be a deliberate attempt to invalidate the negative press. On the other hand, the promos do look promising with rustic appeal.
